Shobu′s strawberry harvest gets into full swing just as Christmas comes
into view.
The New Year dawns amid a season of cold and ciear air, when the mountains
surrounding the Kanto Plain appear near at hand from the 6th floor observation
deck of Town Hall.
In January, Shinmei Shrine holds its Otahiki and Tsutsugayu ceremonies
to foretell if the new year will bring abundant harvests of farm produce.
Early February brings the Daruma fair, with its crowds of fair-goers
buying Daruma dolls in prayer for the attainment of their cherished desires.
